Party Borgata hosting $500k New Jersey Online Poker Championship

Party Borgata network announces NJOPC

Still proving to be a leader in the early days of US online poker regulation, the Party Borgata network have announced the New Jersey Online Poker Championship (NJOPC). Featuring 10 tournaments from April 19th – 27th, the NJOPC will offer $500,000 in guaranteed money. And the highlight is the $200,000 guaranteed Main Event, which will pay the winner at least $50,000.

The Party Borgata network feature both partypoker NJ and Borgata Poker, so anybody on either of these sites can play in the NJOPC. And players will definitely want to take a look at the first event, a $50,000 freeroll, which happens on April 19th. The remaining nine tournaments all feature buy-ins ranging from $50 to $200, which are pretty low in regard to big online tourney events.

Most of the NJOPC tournaments are regular No-Limit Hold’em freezeouts. However, there are a couple of 6-max events scheduled along with Event #7, which has been billed as the $15k guaranteed “Player’s Choice.” Party Borgata players will be able to give their input on the Player’s Choice format and buy-in through the network’s customer support forum.

$200k Guaranteed Main Event!

Of course, as mentioned before, many players will be looking forward to Event #10 – the $200k guaranteed Main Event. Previously, Party Borgata’s biggest tournament was a $100k Sunday tournament, which ran at the beginning of March. 786 players bought into this tourney, which pushed the prize pool up towards $150k. With a $200k prize pool attached to the NJOPC Main Event, it’s a given that more players will enter this $200 buy-in tourney.

Players are encouraged to get on Party Borgata’s customer support forum and give their opinion on the NJOPC. The goal is to expand future tournament series and add different games, formats, buy-ins and structures if there’s enough demand. That said, if you love Omaha, Badugi, Stud, 2-7 Draw or any other game and you live in or around New Jersey, it’s worth voicing your opinion on the forum.
