Partypoker and the Borgata New Jersey have released the official schedule for their Garden State Super Series (GSSS), which will guarantee $1 million in prize money. The GSSS is set to run from September 7th – 21st, with 20 events divided up into low, middle and high buy-in tournaments (60 total). Additionally, there will also be three super satellites, with two taking place on Sept. 7th and another one on the 21st.
Players should definitely be ready at 5:00pm ET on Sept. 14th because this is when the $200,000 Main Event (middle buy-in) takes place. The winner of this $200 buy-in tournament will collect a minimum $50,000 payout.
Let’s continue covering the GSSS by discussing the changes that were made, game variety, and how this will be the largest event in New Jersey online poker history.
Party Poker and the Borgata honors player feedback
To come up with the final version of the GSSS schedule, Partypoker and the Borgata sought feedback from the TwoPlusTwo forums. For the most part, players were happy with the sample schedule, praising the tiered buy-ins, inclusion of rebuy events and game variety. Regarding the latter, the GSSS will feature NL Hold’em, 7 Card Stud, 6-max, bounty, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo events.
There were criticisms as well, and Partypoker chose to act on some of these by guaranteeing $50k for the $200k Main Event champ, changing certain PLO tourneys to 6-max, and increasing starting chip stacks for add-on and rebuy tournaments.
Biggest New Jersey Online Poker Event
Last April, Partypoker and the Borgata featured the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOP), which was previously the state’s largest iPoker series. Once again taking player feedback into account, Partypoker and the Borgata changed the overall guarantee from $500,000 to $600,000.
Of course, the GSSS will trump the NJCOP by offering its $1 million guaranteed prize pool. This means September is set to be a huge month for New Jersey poker players, especially with the WPT Borgata Open also running from Sept. 14th – 19th.
